Some people believe that it is good to share as much information as possible in scientific research, business and the academic world. Others believe that some information is too important or valuable to be shared freely.

Intellectual property is an investment of value; so it should not be shared freely without limits. This is the opinion of a school of thought, though others hold a contrary view. In my opinion, while we could share some of our insights on the public space without restraint, some discoveries and knowledge are too precious to be granted free access.
On the one hand, granting the general public access to useful academic or business publications would create a more successful society. Students would be able to access all forms of journals in libraries to aid their academic research works and would-be entrepreneurs would be better prepared for the business world with the tips and tricks they learn. The world would also become more knowledgeable as curious individuals can research as far as they can to learn all they need regarding any subject of interest.
On the other hand, I strongly think that some information is too valuable to be shared at no premium. Business tips, foundational principles in academics and basic scientific knowledge can be made available as free blog articles or on vlogs. But, deep business secrets, comprehensive research methods and other knowledge painstakingly discovered should not be provided on a platter. Doing so would be unfair on the researchers and business owners who went to great lengths discovering these facts or ideas. Moreover, no business owner or scientist would want to release his secret to a rival; so deep insights are better kept than unveiled.
All in all, inasmuch as it is noble to share as much information as possible, the world is too complex to have some vital insights released at will. Discretion is therefore required of all intellectual property owners for the sake of their pursuits.
